What does asbestos removal cost in 2026?

All guide prices in one place: survey, roof, indoors and project work — plus the cost items people often forget.

Removing asbestos costs more than the removal itself, because mandatory steps almost always come first. So start with the asbestos survey: a certified firm maps where which asbestos is, in what condition and risk class. That costs on average € 200 to € 500 and is usually the basis for the demolition notification to the municipality and for the removing company's quote.

The removal itself depends heavily on what and how much. An asbestos corrugated roof runs roughly € 500 to € 7,000 per job: a single shed roof sits at the bottom of that band, a full roof or several roofs at the top. Indoor asbestos — vinyl flooring, pipe lagging, board — usually costs € 500 to € 3,500, and a small emergency clean-up after damage € 400 to € 2,000.

Besides the surface, a few things move the price: the type of asbestos (bonded corrugated sheets are usually simpler than friable material with a higher risk class), the height and accessibility of the roof, and the disposal — asbestos must go, packaged as hazardous waste, to a licensed processor. Randstad rates typically run 10-20% higher. For commercial buildings and demolition, project work applies from roughly € 12 to € 25 per m².

Always request multiple quotes and set them against the price index. Check that the quote names the survey, the demolition notification, the disposal costs and the certificate (SC-540) — those items belong in it, and a proper quote makes them visible. These are guide prices; your exact price follows from a certified company's quote.
